SO MUCH TO TELL YOU

Omg.

So our little one is over a month old now and let me tell you it has been crazy!!!! In both good and bad LOL!

I swear we have a genius baby because he has been able to hold his head up since birth, already holds his bottle when he is being fed, can half crawl, coherently laugh/smile and can roll over by himself! Man, he amazes me everyday! He's so advanced!

Xmas was awesome! My mom and Aunt came up before and we had such nice time! We don't live in the same start so I don't get to see them very often, so I cherish the time we spend together!

Our son seems to have colic :/ NO FLIPPIN BUENO. It freakin sucks because I feel so helpless! And I cant help him really :[ What I found to really help is the Timmy Toppee (Spelling?) bottles, using gentle formula and help him fart after each feeding. So far we've seen a big improvement!!

Hes crying so I got to go!

Love you all!!!

 WOO!!

Finally a mom :]

Sorry I've been gone for so long, parenting is crazy! But I love it :] Nothing is more rewarding to me! So, our little son came into this word on November 18th, 2012 at 10:22 PM. He weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and 19 inches long. Hes absolutely adorable and perfect in every way!

I have to say parenting is amazing. Hard, but amazing! All the sleepless nights and being pooped on, its all worth it! He makes the most cute faces as well. He sassy, just like his mommy!

You know whats crazy though? He can lift up his head! He is a strong boy! What can I say though- his daddy was a linebacker in hs :] AND I made him laugh and smile by singing Jingle Bells in a silly voice! Seriously, our child will be a genius! I didn't even know they could do that at 3 weeks old!! It was a legit laugh too! God, I love him!

So, were a little family now and I wouldn't change a thing! I have to thank my SO too because he has been amazing! I didn't even have to nag him to change a poopy diaper! Hes a keeper for sure :] And hes such a great helper. Whatever I need done, he does it! I don't know what I would do with out him <3 Hes my rock!

I will post a birth story if anyone wants to know it!

I'm in utter bliss!

Would I like to turn 16 again? NOPE

Seriously, no. I liked/hated high school. But I didn't like it that much! Blah. Teens are weird. Now- are you asking me if I would like the responsibilities of some one who is young? Yes. Not having to worry about your mortgage/rent, cell bill, tv bill, etc would be awesomeeee!!! When you're an adult you have a lot of responsibility. I want to teach that to our son as well! I don't want him to go into shock when he turns 18 and starts having his own bills to take care of. Being responsible is very important. So many people at my age would rather party than save their money and go to college. Yet, when they're 30 while they still are working at Burger King they wonder why their life hasn't improved. I'm all about education and I'm a firm believer that people need it. Wanna make money? Go to school. And yes, I do understand that times are tough these days and there are people that cant afford it. But you could always explore your options and try :]

On another note- I'm totally itching for a new tattoo!! I have to wait a little bit more because I'm still, yes STILL pregnant after 10 flippin days of contractions. YAYAYAYAY. Soooo not ok! Wish me luck ladies because I'm seriously losing my mind.

Yeyahh :]

Some things that make me happy :]

Since I'm going on my 6th day of labor I figured I would some things that made me happy!

1. My SO- Hes an amazing man! I'm so grateful that hes in my life because being with him makes it so much more awesome!

2. My family!- They're amazing and I love them so much!! I have the best little brother in  the world :P

3. My friends!!- With out them I wold be very sad and lonely LOL. Seriously though, I cherish the time I have with my biffle and I miss her every day!

4. FOOD- Cooking is my happy place! I love it. I love to bake! When I was growing up I said that I wanted to be a baker when I grew up hehe!

5. My fuzbutts!- Our animals are like my children! I don't know what I would do with out them :] All of them have their own personalities and they're so much fun to play with!

6. Air conditioning- I know, I know its silly BUT! If I didnt have it I would be a very unhappy mama!

7. The color pink- I'm slightly girly and who seriously doesn't love pink???? It awesome!!

8. Sparkles- I'm like a magpie. I FREAKIN LOVE SPARKLY THINGS!!! They always brighten up my day.

Will do more later! The SO and I are going to go see Skyfall in IMAX cause we need something to kill time with this labor! And the movie is going to be fab as well!

To die for!!!

One of the things that make me laugh!

First off- still having contractions. BOOOOO!!!! So stupid. Erg.

But one of my most fond memories of growing up is my book collection. I always loved to read and I kick myself because I never do it anymore! But one of my favorite writers is Shel Silverstein. I love his poems!!! My SO showed this poem to me yesterday and it put a smile on my face because I'm slightly grumpy.

My beard grows down to my toes,
I never wears no clothes,
I wraps my hair

Around my bare,
And down the road I goes.

So silly! It def made me laugh :]

Love it haha!!

5 days of pre-labor???

I'm going to flip out. No seriously. I'm exhausted. These contractions are killing me and they're not stopping. I hope to god that this isn't "Pre-labor" because mama ain't happy. ERG. I'm over 38 weeks so we'll see what happens. I'm not down with any interventions personally, so I'm just waiting it out :/ Not cool. I feel like banging my head against a wall for sure. HELP!

HOW I FEEL!!!

Contractions!...And tortillas?

Yay I had some for the past few days!!! Andddd now they're gone. I seriously have a troll body, or a troll baby!!! Prolly a little of both! But all in all- my little man, you can come out whenever your little heart desires! Mom and dad are ready when you are!

On a side note- have any of you guys tried these things?

They're tortilla shell shapers!!! And they are AWESOME!! SO easy to use! You just stick the tortillas in and you bake them for like 7 mins. Love them!!! I made taco bowls with them and it was so much fun :] I got them at Bed Bath and Beyond for like 10 bucks and they come in a set of 4. Also- they hold any size of tortilla. Mama approves!!!

My white pizza with white truffle oil recipe!!

Heyyyy!!!

Ok- so its about dern time I post my recipe/expenses of my fabbbbulous pizza!!

I made a size large and it was BOMB! Also- by making a large we had enough left for lunch for both us the next day. So i guess you can say this was two meals in one? Yup! So this recipe would easily feed a family of 4, by the way.

Now I make my own alfredo sauce. You can totally use a pre-made one, but I just don't feel like it tastes the same (Obvi). So here is my recipe for my alfredo sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan
For the sauce, heat the butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant but not brown. Add the flour and whisk until smooth. Gradually add the cream and milk and whisk until mixture begins to thicken and bubble. Remove from heat and add the 1 1/2 cups Parmesan. I put a little salt and pepper in as well, but you don't have to.

Ok- so I already had the butter, garlic, flour, milk, parm, salt and pepper. The only thing I needed was the heavy cream.

FOR THE ACTUAL PIZZA

Ingridients:

  • 2 Pizza dough mixes
  • 1 Bag of Italian 5 cheese...well cheese haha!
  • 3 Small chicken breasts, boneless and skinnless
  • 3 Tbs of dried basil
  • 2 or 3 Tbs of Extra virgin olive oil
  • Roasted garlic!! I roast my own garlic and the price is 2 heads of garlic for 1.00. I used about 1 head...Shut up- its Italian gold!!!
  • 1/2 cup parm
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • White truffle oil if you have it
So first off read how long the dough takes to make. I kinda base the cooking around that. I'll tell you exactly what I did though.

I cut up the chicken into bite sized pieces, seasoned them with salt and pepper and cooked them in a skillet with half of the amount of roasted garlic. Cook them justttttt until they're almost done (While baking they will finish cooking).

Make the alfredo sauce if you do it home made.

Make the pizza dough.

Once the pizza dough is finished, ladle on the alfredo sauce! YUM! On top of the sauce- sprinkle the cheese evenly around the pizza. After that- put the chicken and ALL of the roasted garlic evenly around. Scatter salt/pepper and basil leaves to your liking and then drizzle the evoo.

Bake for however long the pizza dough thing says on the back (prolly 9-11 mins)

When its done put on the white truffle oil in a, "Light back and forth motion" (Yeah, we just got creepy!)

BOOM. PIZZA.

Trust me, this is awesome!!!!

Drum roll please! Im going to list the costs now! Remember- some of these things I already had in my pantry, so I'm listing what I actually had to spend to complete the meals.

Heavy cream- 3.00
2 Pizza dough mixes- 2.40
Cheese- 3.00
Chicken-??? It was 2 pounds for 5.00 bucks and I used 3 breasts
Garlic- 1.00
Parm- 4.00

So I spent about 16 dollars and divided between 4 people it comes to about 4.00 each! Not to shabby my friends!

MY PIZZA!!!

Sciatica pain is a bit%$

Yay for being in the third trimester/ being due in less than 3 weeks! Has anyone else have it/have had it??? Good god, its one of the most painful things I have ever felt. Its always in my right leg- starting from my hip shooting all the way down to my foot. NO THANK YOU!!! I do get loads of massages from the hubbs which help alot. But it just dulls the pain out for a bit :/ Will be getting one of those rice heating pads today! Hopefully they work because mama is getting fed up, lol! Its funny because in most times how I handle pain is I start laughing like a freakin' maniac! The S.O. must think I'm going bonkers. Maybe I am, maybe I ammmm.

 NO flippin' thank you!!!!

Oh man, we got SO much stuff done! The room for our son is looking FAB! Andddd (2 out of the 3 rooms) the wallpaper is put up! Oh! And the baby furniture is all set up as well :] We are one happy family!! Everything looks so good! I have to say I'm pretty darn thankful we were able to hire a handyman service! They put everything together for us! Much, much easier! I cant bend over at all anymore LOL! Ughhhh. I feel so useless! No bueno.

Silly smiles!

My list of advice for the fathers to be!

Helllloooo ladiesss!!! I'm so sorry I haven't written a post for a while things have been so uber crazyy!!

I wanted to make an advice list for the Daddy's to be that are truthful and funny! Some from personal experience (Not many thank god because my SO is pretty darn amazing!) and some that have happened to other people I know :]

1. Always keep your wife/gf fed. AT ALL TIMES! A full preggo lady is a much happier lady! But you have to give her a snack in a way that she wont feel fat.

2. Its done being about you. From now on- its about mommy and baby. Remember all those times your girl slaved over dinner and rubbed your feet after? GONE. But in the mean time, why the hell aren't you rubbing her feet??

3. DON'T EVER ASK FOR SEXY TIMES WHEN SHE HEAVING OVER THE TOILET. NEVER. Also never ask for it when shes in pain/hungry/TIRED/emotional. Because trust me- sex really isn't our main priority right now.

4. We get really emotional sometimes. The best thing you can do for us is sit next to us, hold our hand and listen. We really, really love that!

5. Support! We need it! Alot!

6. Never make us feel bad for the way were feeling. No matter how silly the situation is, they are our feelings. Remember- we are very over emotional and what may seem like a small deal to you, is quite possibly a big deal to us.

7. DON'T EVER COMMENT ABOUT HER WEIGHT. EVERRRRRR. That is one of the biggest no-nos out there! Unless your words are, "You're beautiful and I love you" just be quiet lol! We know our thighs touch now and our boobies are huge, but don't grab them and make honking sounds! If you do that anyways- I hope you never have children because you need to grow up. /End rant

8. Massages! We loveeee them! I cant tell you how achy we get. We are in pain almost 24/7 so please, please, pleaseee offer them to us! Or even better get a us some PRENATAL MASSAGES FROM A LMT :] Being able to relax and spend time by ourselves/not have to worry about anything is awesome! We would always appreciate it and you will def get some kisses from her!

9. Do not force her to do anything she doesn't want to do. This includes with guilt trips, unkind words, etc. Why would you want to to that anyways? And if you do- you are a horrible person and I don't like you.

10. If she wants to do a certain type of birth (I.e. Home birth, hospital birth, midwife assisted birth) and you don't agree- TO FREAKIN BAD. Last time I checked you weren't the person squeezing a human body through your vagina. Why would you want your wife/gf to go through something she didn't want to do? Its not about you. We would love to hear your opinion on it and will take it into consideration but again- don't put her through something she doesn't agree with or doesn't want to do. Its not ok.

11. There will be A LOTTTTT of people who will give you unwanted advice. Be prepared.

12. Stand up for her. If she isn't comfortable with something don't stand in the back like a wimp. This is the woman who is birthing your child for gods sake!

13. If she doesn't want YOUR mother/father/sister/brother/cousins/aunt/family in general in the room while shes giving birth then YOU SHOULD SUPPORT HER. We already have an audience there, the last thing we want is another person looking at our hoo-ha. Also this means that you should be the one that talks to them. They are not her family, so you need to be the one to stand up to your precious mommy.

That's all I can really think of for now lol! Just remember- she is only pregnant for a while and none of this craziness is permanent! It will all be worth it in the end because you will have a beautiful child :]

Yessir!!

Helloooo!!

Omg. I've been SO insanely busy these days!!! Man, a new baby is tough to get ready for!...ok maybe not that tough lol! But today, were going baby clothes shopping! WOO! I'm so excited!!

Right now I'm making blueberry crumble. I would sound happy if it looked like it was turning out ok :/ Sigh. Its got 30 mins more to bake, but still! It just kinda sucks because I'm a fabulous cook and I hate it when a dish doesn't come out right sometimes lol! Ok- it doesn't really bother me thattt much. But these darn pregnancy hormones!

We adopted 2 more little fuzz butts! We took in a stray cat which we named Skittles and another ferret named Possum! They are the cutest little monkeys ever!! Now we have a dog, 2 ferrets, a cat and a rat. we are a full family! Plus- the baby is due next month! :]

Yumm!

Prenatal massages? SO GOOD!

I left that place feeling like a million bucks!!! I even scheduled my next one two weeks from now! WOO!! I was able to bend over with out horrible back pain and my hip pain is gone! Omg, I wish I did this sooner :/ Oh well! I recommend them if you're pregnant for sure!

This face pretty much sums it up!!

Oh Ikea employees.

Oh Ikea. I love you so much. BUT! That one girl that works for you- I want to push her off a cliff. I went in last week to get things for my place and since I've never been to this particular Ikea before, I really had no idea where I was going. Some how my SO and I managed to get into the showroom and I had no idea where the carts where! So I asked your employee where the carts are located and she replied in THE MOST snotty voice ever, "Don't you know they're on the first floor????". Uh. No. Because if I did, I wouldn't be asking now would I? But let me explain something to you. One- I'm pregnant. DO NOT PISS OFF PREGGO PEOPLE!!! We will maul you to death and not give two craps. Two- you had no reason to rude. After you and I shared a few select words while your face started to turn redder and redder (I think you realized that man standing in an Ikea shirt in the back ground was your boss), I walked away and feasted on some of your delish meatballs! But all in all- it wasn't a horrible experience and I will be going back to you. Mostly because I'm a sucker for cheap Swedish furniture. Good god.

This pretty much sums it up lol!

Hectic shmectic!!

So much to do in so little time!! So- we are in the midst of moving! But we were able to do it all in 3 days! WOO!! I seriously owe who ever came up with the concept of moving companies. They are a life saver! Now we wait for all the furniture to arrive in the mail :/ It said it'll be here by the fifth. Yay. Not so much. BUT! We have our bed moved and our mattress moved! Oh, how comfy that mattress is.

Speaking of comfort level- my hips hurt so insanely much!! Sad Nikki! My theme song should be, "Everyday I'm shuffling". LOL!!! Cause' that's all I seem to do these days! Thank god I only have two more months of being pregnant because this blows. I don't like being pregnant. I never have. BUT! I LOVE the outcome of being pregnant! This pregnancy has been absolutely horrid. Every day I'm sick/in physical pain/hormonal. It just sucks. But I know our little man is doing great so it makes it all worth it. I told my mom that this might be the only grand kid she gets from me. And I mean that LOL! But I have never been that type of person that absolutely NEEDED to get married or have kids. People call me weird because I'm just as happy single as I am in a relationship. I have no problem being the third wheel haha! But all that has changed since I've been with my SO. I never wanted to get married or have kids until I met him. He is my rock, my world and my life. Maybe its because I've only dated shmucks before him. Hes changed my life for the better <3 I love you babe!

This is what I look like right now!!! LOL!

What time is it???

EPIC FREAK OUT TIME!! I just realized we literally have zilch for our son. Anddd he's due in 2 months. UGH. But! We did get him his first Burberry coat! What a spoiled little monkey! I want to have everything next month, though. You never know when they're going to come into this world- so I feel its best to be a prepared! But its cool because this means we are getting a Costco member ship! Yay! I love Costco!!! Their deals on diapers and baby wipes are off the charts! I mean how can you not beat 230 diapers for like 30 bucks??? You cant!

Side note- has anyone seen the Iphone 5 (That was a total joke because I know everyone wants one)? I don't like them. Talk about weirdly shaped!!

I freaking love their pizzas!!!

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Stepford wife?

Nah. BUT! I found the most ahmazing product ever!!! Side note- I am NOT affiliated with any companies!

Ok.

So last week I got the Hoover twin tank steam mop and it rocks!!! I was able to do the floors AND clean my shower with it!! So cool! I cant really clean with any harsh chemicals because of the pregnancy, but with this I can clean all the time!! JOKES. I really like that it does all flooring types- pretty much all hard surfaces. It will "refresh" carpets and rugs too. We got it at Target for 100 bucks and it is definitely a 100 bucks well spent! It was very easy to put together as well and I like the option that you can use cleaning solution with it or not. I used it with the cleaning solution and it was SO mild. Mama approves!!

This thing is the best!!

NANANANANANANANA...Me!

Ok. I flippin' LOVE all of the batman movies. A lot. Like dear god, I need to get a life lol! My SO is a big gamer and loves anime/comics. Any super hero is his thing! I think it's so cute! Im not a "gamer" by any sorts. In fact I'm so horrible at video games, its hard to find a game that we both can play with out one of getting frustrated! AKA- usually me. Because I die a lot. And personally- I like living haha!

But as a 90's kid (Yes, I'm THAT young. Get over it! Ok- I'm not that young, I'm probably older than you think I am)- Disney movies are my thing. I know every single god damn song imaginable! But don't ask my SO to recite any of them because he'll never admit he knows all of them!!! I found- well my SO did- the coolest clip ever! Picture Batman AND Lion king! Epic, no? This is the link and you need to watch it!!!

The circle of lifeeeee!!!

UPDATE!

Ohmygerd this week has been nuts! In a good way though!!!

1. I am now debt free!!! Did you hear that??? DEBT FREE. No more college tuition loan bills and no more credit card bills! Everything is paid up!! Eff yah!! I have to say I am pretty darn proud of myself! It took a while, but you know what? I'm awesome. What time is it? gloating time lol!

2. Made a new friend a few days ago! She was really sweet! We went out for boba buble tea and went to See's candy. Ok- side note! That boba tea is weird! They are little tapioca balls that have a consistency of those little gel sticky hand toys that you throw at walls when you were a kid. Seriously. Also- See's will be the death of me lol!!! I got like 8 lollipops, 3 bars of chocolate, and a 12 piece assortment of chocolate. Hey now- don't judge. Half of that was for my SO!! :P We had a lot of fun!!

3. Had my 29 week doc's appointment and everything is going perfectly! We couldn't be happier! I am measuring right on schedule and the heart beat is strong! I love it :] I am meeting with a midwife next week as well, so I'm super excited!!!

4. Have you seen that "Gangnam Style" music video??? OMG. SO. EFFING. FUNNY. Go watch it!!!

Missed you all!!

Seriously, this kid is funny!!

Butt kicker!

That's what the third trimester is for me lol! Oh man, talk about super duper uber nausea everyday. No bueno. I'm exhausted all the time. I'm hungry all the time but cant really eat. I'm a hot mess lol! It'll all be over soon and we will get to see our baby boy!!

On another note- we finally have the first onsie for our son!! I LOVE IT! My mother sent it to us yesterday and its so freakin' adorable! Thank you mom! It has a little lions head on it and little lions head feeties :]. Talk about adorable! I'm really into lions right now because my SO"s favorite childhood movie was the Lion King. The circleee of lifeeeee!! Yeah, don't lie you totally know that song :P! And you know that you totally cried when Simbas father died haha! I love that movie! Actually- I love all Disney movies. If you grew up in the 80s/90s- the movies were a staple in any house! Heck, any 20-27 year old could totally sing to the lyrics perfectly with out missing a word or a beat! We're just that cool.

I cant wait to get more stuff for him though! I love shopping! I mean, whatttt! Happy Nikki!

Haknuna Matata!

Shrimp!

I LOVE shrimp! It doesn't make me sick, they are low in calories and taste delish!! Plus they are always dirt cheap! For a pound at my local super market (which equals to about 35-42 shrimp) is 5.99. How can you beat that? I got 12 shrimp last week and it was only a 1.82. Boom! Happy momma! Lets see though- you can make stir fry, Alfredo, shrimp tacos, shrimp scampi, on skewers, over rice, po boys, etc! The list is literally endless! Try them out because they are good!!!

NOM!

You just had a baby 2 days ago? You're ugly.

UMMMM. Why are people so critical about new moms getting their old body back only 3 weeks from when they had their baby??? Apparently we're not allowed to spend time with our new family and bond. How sad! It's like, "How DARE you give birth to a human that you spent 9 freaking months nurturing in your womb! Even though you get up to feed the baby every 3 hours, why the heck aren't you wearing your make up and 6 inch heels???". Seriously, why would some one actually say this to a new mother? I'm not sure which is worse though; judgmental men or judgmental mothers lol! What I can't understand is their motivation. Jealousy? Hate? Low self esteem? It just doesn't make sense. Anyways.

Look at that girls face LOL!

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Lemme see your guns!!!!

Wait what? Now, I have a few tattoos and one of them is a giant M16 with a grenade launcher on my fore arm. You're probably thinking, "Why would see get something like that on her arm???". Well, it's my body and I wanted to. So screw off LOL! Just kidding!

Sort of.

Now- let me ask why people are so judgmental about tattoos? Luckily for me, No one has really judged me that much for having tattoos. If you know my personality then you would know that tattoos are my thing. I do think it was slightly funny though when I told my mother what type of tattoo I got and I could hear her fainting through the phone. God bless her soul :]! But anyways!

I made this post because the funniest thing happened to me last week. My SO and I were in a parking lot and the cops were hanging out there. Both of the men walked over to us and one of them said to me, "Let me see your guns" while making the flexing motion. So right off the bat I knew this situation was going to be funny! But since he said it as "Guns" and not "Gun" I thought they were talking about my (non) muscles. So I made a funny face and flexed. They both laugh and say, "Noooo the one on your arm!". I go, "Ohhhhh" and showed them my tattoo. They both loved it! After they looked at it, I told them that I've never had any police officers that have stopped and said they liked my ink. One of them said, "It's the best concealed weapon you could carry!!". I seriously died! Right there. On the pavement lol!!! We all laughed and went our separate ways.

So far the only people I've had working in enforcement say that they love my tat were the TSA, airport police and a group of security guards. So I can check this off my check list!!

My tat!

Thursday, August 23, 2012

Push present!

Ok. Personally- I think "Push presents" are bs. Butttttt, it's a good excuse for my SO to buy me things lol! He says I deserve it because my pregnancy has been so hard. What a sweetie! I will post a picture of it soon! What a little lubby! Here's a sneak peak!

I think I may have given it away!

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Oh, you're fat and pregnant? You're OBVIOUSLY going to kill your baby.

Yeah, ok. Uh-huh. Seriously, if some one where to EVER say that to me- I would punch them in the face! Not even kidding, us Sicilians are the type of crazy you don't want to touch with a ten foot pole.

Eh-hem*

Now- I'm over weight. I was before I was pregnant and I am now. There's literally no way of hiding it! No pun intended (Drum roll)! But I'm reading online of how poorly us chubby bunnies are being treated for being pregnant!! You need to head over to http://myobsaidwhat.com/ and http://wellroundedmama.blogspot.com/. Oh my god, I cant believe what some docs/midwives have said to women! Utterly disgusting.

Heres one of my favorites:

Posted by My OB said WHAT?!?.

“…You Have No Right Thinking You Can Safely Deliver A Child When You Are So Overweight.”

“I can’t believe I have been put in this position!  I absolutely resent that I am now responsible for your life and delivering this baby, you have no right thinking you can safely deliver a child when you are so overweight.” – OB to mother at birth.

Yay!!! Not so much. Like how can you even say something like to some one??? Lady's- learn about waivers (Aka-don't ever sign anything that you don't read over. But you should be doing that anyways.). Research if the hospital is "fat- friendly". DO NOT TO CONSENT TO ANYTHING YOU DON'T APPROVE OF. But most of all, don't let anyone, ANYONE scare you into thinking that you cant do something. It is your day!!! Do what you want to do! But most off like I always say- Love yourself and love the people around you!

You know you are!!!

Tuesday, August 21, 2012

FIRST!!!!!

Ok. Brace yourselves. I just made our first purchase for our son!! AHHHH!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG. I could not be any happier! I was trying to hold off for so long. As some one who experienced a stillborn miscarriage, I wanted to wait as long as I could "Just in case" something happened. I know, I dropped the ball on you but it's life and it happened. I am a strong woman who has a wonderful SO and an amazing family who have been so insanely supportive of this pregnancy! I wouldn't trade them in for the world! Also- my team of doc's are AWESOME. They are so caring and are so nice to me. Seriously I couldn't have asked for a better team :].

Now back to the purchase!

We bought the Graco 2 in 1 bouncer/swing at target. I cant wait until it comes in the mail :]. It's so cute I could die! Its a light green and brown with adorable accents. I love it! What do you think?

Love? Or LOVE?

Am I the only one???

Does anyone else go through periods where they can't make up their mind? I feel so all over the place!!! I want something, but then 5 mins later I want something else. Ugh. Scatter brain Nikki! Especially with stuff we need to get for  the baby. Maybe I'm just excited! :] Who wouldn't be! Our little nugget of joy is going to be here in November so we have a little bit to set everything up, but still. I'm going bonkers!! Oh gosh, ANDDD I started "nesting" as well. I want to clean everything. I want every thing perfect. It's like I suddenly have a severe case of ocd lol! I just want our son to come into this world of perfection. Maybe I'm being unrealistic? I should probably learn to let things go. Those dishes will be fine sitting out another day I guess. It's so hard though. On the upside- I'm starting my prenatal massages soon! I want to get some every month being in the 3rd trimester. Mama needs to be relaxed! So many things gong on!!! :] Just another day in the life of me. And I wouldn't trade it for the world!

A spoonful of happiness!

Which came first? The egg yolk or...cholesterol?

Apparently I'm all about chickens these days lol!! But as I was watching the news yesterday, it did a segment on how research was done in London about if "you eat eggs yolks it's as bad as being a heavy smoker". You know what that sounds like?? Another scare tactic. I love how at the end of the segment they quickly said that the study didn't factor in daily exercise etc, etc. Sadly, I guess any news is news these days. Plus being an ex-smoker (not these days though because I'm pregnant!), I can assure you that all the chemicals you are inhaling from a cigarette are nothing like eating an egg yolk. Here's a phrase that I live by- "Everything in moderation". It's really as simple as that. I've noticed people are freaking out over nothing wayyyy to easily these days. But you know what? Hell, if you've worked out 3 days these this week and take care of your self and you want to eat that delish chocolate bar? Go ahead! Good for you though, because I'm not getting my fat preggo booty out running...but I'll take that chocolate bar!

Dear god, what have you done to him???

Asian chicken? Yum!

Alright, I have a delish recipe for you! And it's cheap!! So last night I made my take on Asian chicken. I made it up as well, so kudos to me. But it's probably on the internet somewhere lol!

Now I don't use measuring cups. I've cooked long enough to kind of "know" how much is how much! But I can tell you what I did. Also it depends how much chicken you use. I used about 3 chicken breast (boneless and skinless), cut up into bite size pieces.

Marinade/sauce:

1/2 cup of djon mustard
4 or 5 tbs of soy sauce
5 cloves of garlic or more (it's Italian gold- shut up)
Pepper
The SMALLEST pinch of salt if you want

I just mixed the chicken into the marinade/sauce and dumped all of it (including the sauce) into a skillet till cooked through. BOOM. Amazing! Now, this recipe has loads of sodium so if that's an issue you can cut it by using no salt and a lesser sodium soy sauce. Whatever works for you! I cooked some rice and used it as a side dish as well. And carrots! I LOVE carrots so I hate a big ol' plate of those lol!

On a side note- I said it was a cheap dish. Let me tell you how much I paid for everything or break it down.

Chicken- it was more than 2 pounds for 5.00....I don't know what that breaks down to because I used 3 chicken breasts and about 8 came in the pack.
Soy sauce- 1.77 per bottle
Garlic- 2 heads of it for 1.00
Pepper (It was black and I bought a 1.5 oz mill)- 1.00
Salt (I bought 1 pound of it)- 1.00

You can subtract the salt and pepper because I always have spices in my kitchen.

Since I can no haz maths early in the morning, I assume it didn't cost much per serving :]

Enjoyyy!!!

#Firstworldproblems

Ok, first of all- I HATE hashtags lol! I think if you #speaklikethisyouneedaneducation. Also the word swag. Like really? Do you think you sound cool when you say swag or swagger? I bet you're a really special person. Let's call you "limited".

Anyways, so our power went out this morning. Yay! Not so much because let's be honest- preggo ladies need air conditioning. On high. All the damn time. Or at least that's me. But it made me think like, "Wow, half the world probably doesn't have air conditioning and here I am complaining about things people cant afford these days". I felt like a spoiled brat. A couple days ago I was complaining that I didn't drink enough milk because it went bad, so now we had to buy more. At least my SO and I agree on we should raise our son being educated that some people may not have as much as other people. I really respect my parents decision to have me volunteer and use it as a learning tool to not be judgmental or greedy. And honestly- it was really fun! I love helping people. Its one of the reasons I want to be a RN (I'm half way done with school! Yay me!). I'm a natural mama bear. I'm the same with animals. I always adopt and I'm a full believer that no matter how big or small the animal- if you give them a little love they will turn into the most amazing friend you'll ever have. The world needs more love these days! Be kind people.

Remember her from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory?? Spoiled!!!

I want to look like a Bratz doll when I grow up!

Ah. Another reason why I'm glad I'm having a son. No Bratz dolls! I have to say- all the cartoons and toys are TOTALLYYYY different from when I was growing up. Everything is over sexualized these days. Its horrible. Young girls- like I'm talking about 6 years old, say they would rather be sexy than smart when they grow up. So sad. Why aren't these parents teaching good values to our children? At least I know how not to parent! LOL. But seriously. Almost every girl toy has either a big butt or big boobs. What happens when a little girl matures and she doesn't have big boobs or whatever? She thinks shes ugly. It's just mind boggling. I wish I could give them a hug and tell them that they're beautiful! No one should be feel sad about the way they look! Love yourself ladies and teach others the same!

You are amazing!!!

Helicopter parenting?

Helicopter parenting
Noun Informal .
A style of child rearing in which an overprotective mother or father discourages a child's independence by being too involved in the child's life: In typical helicopter parenting, a mother or father swoops in at any sign of challenge or discomfort.

NOPE. I cannot tell you enough how much I disagree with this! It's one thing being there for your child but it's another thing not giving them enough room to breathe and learn from their own mistakes.

I was reading stories from children that have these types of parents and what they say is horrible! I felt so sad for them. This one man told a story about how his mother would not let him wipe his own bum until he was 15. I mean, forget about parenting that's just sexual abuse. Another one was this young man recalling his childhood/ teen years of how his parents wouldn't let him have friends in fear that something or some one would hurt him. And then they got mad at him for not having friends and would punish him. I cant even find words for a reaction. Way to mess up your kid! No bueno.

I don't understand, whats so wrong with raising your child with a little humility? We want to raise our children by giving them tools to take accountability and figure out how to fix the dilemma they are in. Its called life skills people! Of course I can understand that your kid is your little angel but I not sorry I refuse to raise my kid as a spoiled brat that cant do anything wrong. I just, I don't know. We want to give our kids the tools to help themselves. We will always be there for our kids-don't get me wrong, but I want them to try to figure out the situation by themselves first and then if they need help, we will give it to them.

NO.

Respect? Boundries? Anything??

Hey my sexy mamas! I need to get something off my chest that has been bugging me. Now, this hasn't happened to me yet- but I'm prepared for when/if it does. But my question to you is- why in god's name do people think its ok to walk up to a random pregnant lady and proceed to touch her? Wake up call!!!! YOU ARE NOT TOUCHING THE BABY. YOU ARE TOUCHING A HOT, NAUSEOUS, SWOLLEN, HORMONAL, BEAUTIFUL WOMAN THAT IS ABOUT TO RIP YOUR ARM OFF BECAUSE SHE DOESN'T KNOW YOU AND YOU'RE TOUCHING HER STOMACH WITH OUT HER PERMISSION. It sounds humorous but in all honesty, it's very not ok. People seem to believe that once you are pregnant you give up all your rights as a person. You're not allowed to have an opinion on parenting, but if you do its some how wrong because its not the way some one else did it.  Or with personal space- we don't want you to touch us. AT ALL. But if you do feel so inclined, at least ask us. Then we might not rip your head off for invading our personal space. I mean, we already don't have any privacy anymore. Why are you so special that I need to make an exception for you? Seriously, tell me why you're better than my husband. I want to see your face while I laugh at you. I'm reading these stories online about expectant parents who are getting randomly belittled, touched or groped but not only women of all ages but MEN. Yes you read that right MEN. Random dudes walking up to you and touching your beautiful baby belly. My fav story is one guy walked up to this expectant couple and started to message her belly. In front of her husband. Who almost beat the guy lol. But he was classy about it and grabbed the random guys junk and twisted it and proceeded to go off on a Clint Eastwood speech. Made me laugh. I just would really like to go inside these peoples head and find their reasoning and motivation for such weirdness. I guess you can say pregnancy is really relatable. People feel comfortable around women who are expecting or have a baby. I just wish they had a little more respect for us. Now- I'm not some neo nazi feminist freak who hates men. But if you come up to me and I don't know you and you start touching me, I will punch you. Right in the gonads. And then I will laugh while you keel over in pain lol! Yesss, feel what child birth feels like to us! -Insert evil laugh-. This goes for women as well. I don't know, I just assume you'd know how I feel but humanity continues to surprise me. Anyways. /End rant.

This...is...my....ANGRY FACE!!!!

Love

Hello again! Sorry I have been out- I've been so sick lately. No fun for me! Oh man, so what has happened to me in the past few days? Lots I guess lol!

For one thing we got our cute little ferret insurance! Yay! Its only 12 bucks a month and covers so much! I'm one happy ferret mommy! I'm a HUGE animal lover and all my babies need to be healthy for sure.

My mom and aunt are going to visit!! I'm so excited I cant even tell you! We all live in different states so traveling is expensive and sometimes hard to schedule so I'm very happy. Sometimes it's weird not being able to visit them whenever I want, but they are just a phone call away :[. It's not the same, but I'll take what I can get!

I heard my SO refer to our son (who is not born yet) by his name :]. OMG, my heart melted! I almost cried! He's never done that before so I think it's super sweet! Maybe fatherhood is becoming more real for him. He's going to be such a good dad. I love him so much!

Went grocery shopping and bought a weeks worth of food for 78 bucks. HECK. YES. I guess you can say I'm a "stereotypical jew" lol. I wont take offense to it! I love finding deals and usually we have to shop at three places or so, but in the end I got a weeks worth of food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for under 80 dollars. GO ME!!!

Our babies!

FEED ME SEYMORE!!

OMG. Just found my new weakness. Blueberry cream cheese. Shut. The. Front. Door. SO GOOD. Seriously everyone needs to go to the grocery store and get it!!! Very, very delish!

It's a little funny though, I haven't had any cravings for anything really. I've had a few cravings for specific things but nothing in particular. Thank goodness I have a SO that will go to the store at 5 am to get me something I love. When I first was pregnant, I remember I absolutely HAD to have Kimchi. Now if you don't know what that is, its an Asian pickled cabbage that's spicy. YUM. I know it may seem totally gross but ohmergerd it's awesome. That trip was fun though. Since not many places carry it because its a very authentic Asian dish- we went to a place called Pacific Asian Market. So cool!! Now my SO is from Maui so if you don't know, Asian culture/people dominate the population there. If you see some one whose Caucasian its most likely they moved there from the mainland or their parents did. So naturally he lovesss Asian everything! Its was so fun to see him get all the candy and food that he grew up with and couldn't find any where else! And their meat/sea food butcher, get out of town everything looked delish! I remember the first time we went to a Hawaiian restaurant and he ordered spam musubi. Have you ever heard of it? SO GOOD. I'm hooked now. ANDDD I know how to make it! And I make it good. Since WW2 it just kind of stuck in Hawaiian everyday food because there wasn't much food that was provided during the war. It was cheap and people could afford it. Ok, but spam musubi is a fried piece of spam that has either been marinated with oyster sauce, sugar, soy sauce and teriyaki sauce or when it's done frying drizzled on top of the spam. Then the spam is placed on top of a bed of rice then wrapped in seaweed. BOOM SPAM SUSHI! Its to die for and stop being judgmental! GO get some, make it and love it!

MMMM SPAM MUSUBIIII!!!

Can you here me sleep gods? Its me, Nikki

Oh man, I cant sleep. I got a good 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep today but it isn't enough. I think I may go take a nap. To bad though, once I'm up- I'm up!!! Some times I take benedryl but even that doesn't work anymore to help with me falling asleep. Well, I guess "falling asleep" per say isn't the problem. Its the getting up 5 times and not being able to stay asleep because I'm to uncomfortable.Yay pregnancy! Its funny, I told my mother that this may be the only grand baby she gets from me. Tangent!! I always love it in the movies where they portray pregnancy and birth going so well and so smoothly. I'm like yeah ok man. Totally realistic! The father always waits patiently outside, while the mother gives birth smiling- flashing her pearly whites. The doctors and nurses all coo at the same time and suddenly your baby looks 3 months old wrapped up in a soft cotton blanket perfectly clean. HA! Forget about delivering the placenta. I mean ok, I KNOWWW Hollywood isn't going to portray the birthing process correctly but really? REALLY? Well, maybe if they did show the real thing no one would go see movies! It's called real life people. Educate yourself. Nikki out.

Yah! You see that??? Not like in the movies huh? Lol!

I have my knight in shining armor, not just a dude in tin foil

This is a post dedicated to my SO. I love you. With all my heart! I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you in my life. I would be empty. Empty of happiness and life. You are an amazing man and I wish I told you that more! You deserve nothing but perfection and I'm so happy I get to call you mine!

Ahhh. A sigh of happiness. Seriously, I loved him before but now. NOW I love him even beyond love. The little things he does for me are just so sweet. I partially believe that if you cant handle your wife/gf/partner being pregnant- then you might have some underlying issues you need to work out. At least with me, I feel like I've turned into the devil. I get mad at things that didn't bother me before and I cry all the time. I feel so bad, I hate acting like a crazy lady. But he has been such a great sport about it like, I cant thank him enough. Also- it's better you work out your issues before you have the baby! No one wants extra stress. I mean, of course you're going to be stressed with a newborn but it doesn't help what so ever if you guys are fighting on top of it! Nooo thank you my kind sir! Mmmm quite!

Now we get to the part where I brag a little bit :P! I know, I know its bad but come on! It's so nice to have him clean for me, or cook if I cant. He gives me back rubs when ever I want and makes me feel beautiful even though I'm a swollen watermelon! He does it with out asking as well! This pregnancy has been EXTREMELY hard for me so I'm pretty much on bed rest all the time. Yay me! NOT. But I feel so lucky and honored :]. You're awesome baby and I love you!

Here to us sweety! You make my life perfect and to the many more years we spend together!!

The best kind of love is old, gray and happy lol!

MMM FOOOD...For 60 bucks a week???

Hello, hello!

Ive decided to cook meals everyday! Why you may ask? Because I love it! And it'll save money! Woohoo! Not to be all stereotypical- but I am (well, cannnnn be) very frugal! I'm a master at finding things for cheap and getting the best deal. Oh, you got it for 20 percent off? I can get it for 35! Just kidding ladies...sort of! But anyways. Now, you might be like, "But I thought you were pregnant and you're sick all the time?". I am- BUT I absolutely LOVE to cook! Its my "happy place". One thing I loved about growing up is that my dad would always let me help cook! He is a wonderful chef! So is my mother-she has some amazing recipes! Like her cookies? Get out of town. She has definitely tought me some awesome short cuts. Oh, but my poor dad. He is a such a perfectionist and I love him for that lol. He doesn't do it so much anymore but I'm used to him hovering over me saying, "If you do it this way it'll be easier!". Or his famous line, "Can I make a suggestion?". No dad go away :P!  I love my family! They make me laugh!

But back to the cooking. I've started to make weekly meal plans, and I shop when there's a good sale on something that I need. And (this is so hard for me!!!) I DON'T BUY WHAT I DO NOT NEED. I don't spend more than 60 bucks per week on food. Can you believe it???? Well you should because it's true! I mean, it DOES require shopping at multiple places to get the best deal but honestly- we've cut down SO insanely much! And especially with a baby on the way- you cant beat it. I will be posting recipes some time!

Now wheres my SO to rub my swollen feet??

NOM. I LOVE LOVE LOVE authentic delis!!!

Natural birth (med free) or with epi?

Hellooooo lady's!! Another late night/early morning post. I cant seem to sleep anymore. Thank you my son for causing that LOL!

Let's see. I seem to be having second thoughts on having an epi shot. I don't know whats came over me, but I feel like I should look at the all med free birth option a little bit more. Maybe its because I dont like being told what to do, or maybe its that I know birth can be such a crazy thing. I kind of want to go into it with a clean slate. With an open mind per say. It has been actually stressing me out thinking that my "Birth plan" will go a certain way, at a certain time, etc. It never happens like that!! I guess I'm starting to be more realistic! At this point I have decided that if I cant handle the contractions then I am going to get an epi. I don't want to make myself be in more pain than I have to. But if I can handle the contractions then I'm going to do it med free. I think its a good way to go! Whatever happens, happens!!

Side note/silly story- I handle pain EXTREMELY well. It's quite uncanny and inhuman. One of my favorite stories I love telling people is the story of when I broke a few fingers by bending my hand all the way back from riding my in line skates as a kid. I pretty much walked up to my mom calmly and and said, "I think I may need to go to the hospital because I broke my hand". Epic mom freak out ensues!! The funny thing was- I didn't feel any pain what so ever. Now I know I'm a little far fetched by saying child birth "pain" is like breaking your hand. Which I know it isn't. But something is just telling me I should check out that option as well. I'm probably all gung-go because pregnancy is empowering. JOKES. My pregnancy has been so insanely hard. It freakin' sucks! Ive mentally been done with my pregnancy since I was about 8 weeks lol. I am sick ever day, swollen, I have migraines...the list is never ending, sadly. Only a few more months.....Heres to being able to eat sushi again!!

A rant. I cant sleep so this is what I do!

WHY ARE WE SO DAMN JUDGMENTAL OF EACH OTHER?  Its like- we're almost bred to be jealous, snarky girls. I was at a prenatal appt the other day and heard these little 10 year old girls say, "Wow, shes really pretty, but a total wh***". WHAT. Ohmergerd if I heard my son say something like that he wouldn't know what type of fresh hell he would unleash on himself. Where would they learn something like that? Family? Friends? Probably both, unfortunately. I mean, I knew "curse" words when I was 10- but did I say them? No. Ugh. My SO and I agreed to never curse or fight in front of our son. I don't think its healthy and if he does end up saying something like that- at least I know it wasn't from us!

On another note- I absolutely HATE (Yes, I know that's a strong word but get over it) moms who look at you like you are not good enough! Ladys- YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH AND NO ONE CAN TELL YOU DIFFERENT!!!! Fortunately, no one really picks on me or looks at me weird. If they do I don't let it bother because I don't care! Also it may help that I'm a strong tatted up Sicilian woman who has no problem standing up for what I believe in. Anddd maybe because my SO is over six feet tall and built like a line backer (which he was in high school!). Anywho. My thing is I hate other moms that feel like they need to push their beliefs on you. I'm an open person and I realize everyone doesn't have the same opinion that I do and that's ok. But you don't go seeing me push it upon people. We will be getting our son circumcised. Why you may ask? Because we are proudly Jewish!! Will I be breast feeding? No! But most of all- do I care about the judgmental stickuptheirbum moms that say I'm harming my child? NOT AT ALL. Its my child and I will do what I think it best for me and for my baby. Is that really so hard for people to wrap their head around? The fact that other people feel differently from them? Maybe Im going on a sixth month preggo rant because I'm mad at the fact I cant sleep anymore because I'm to damn uncomfortable. But hey- that's what this place is for, right??? If you don't like it then you can shove it! Personally- we've never experienced some one saying that, "We are harming our child" but I've known people that have had that happen to them. My friend Jamie was walking through Target and was at the check out line when a woman walked up to her and her three year old and said to her daughter, "Where is your mommy?". Jamie looked at her and goes, "I'm right here". The lady says, "Obviously not because you aren't talking to her in baby talk. We all know baby talk is how you communicate with them" and left. Wait, what?? How does that make any sense? Because my friend chooses to talk to her daughter with out saying goo goo or gaga, it means she isn't communicating with her correctly? Now that's all types of weird.

I guess the point I'm getting at is; lady's- love yourself and don't act crazy if you see some one doing something different than you. Don't think, "Wow, they are obviously are poor and cant afford a child because they use hand me downs". You look silly and seriously- I hope I meet you some day because you'll have to deal with me. An angry, swollen, nauseous, sleep deprived Italian woman.

Lovely women unite!!!

HELLO GIRLIES!

Ahh. My fist blog post. Get ready world to hear about my crazy life! I constantly have multiple projects going on, my hair is always a mess but do I care? Nope! Our baby boy is due in November, so I wanted to start a blog for moms/ moms to be. A place where we can be real and non judgmental! And most of all- share our trials and tribulations of the ups and downs of motherhood. Cheers to us- you sexy women, we deserve it you know you love it!
